What is hospice care?

Hospice provides care for patients with life limiting illness in the patient's home and focuses on the of the patient and family including

  • social
  • spiritual and
  • physical needs

Hospice has a vision to provide support and care for individuals facing end of life. The intent of this vision is to ensure that the patient may live at home as fully and comfortable as possible.

These services are provided to this individuals with a terminal diagnosis who are seeking pain management and comfort care.  The diagnosis must have a life expectancy of six months or less.

Choosing hospice is NOT giving up hope, but redefining it. There may no longer be a possibility of curing the illness, so patients and families redirect their hope into spending time with those they love, and finding peace and comfort.

Focusing on living, hospice enhances quality of life and dignity of their patients.
